Psalms For All Times

There are five books of Psalms, and this short four-week series looks at Psalms from four of the books. An opportunity to study and reflect on some of the themes. To give God thanks that we have the privilege of turning to the Psalms in good times and when things are challenging, knowing we can find in them a word from God to encourage and help us whatever season of life we are passing through.

Series Sermons

Which Way Will You Choose? - Psalm 1 - Ryan McKernan (Video)
Evening Service, Sunday, March 5, 2023
This wonderful collection of 150 Psalms opens with a short Psalm, with only six verses. The message is clear: there is the way of the righteous who delight in the law of the Lord and whom the Lord watches over or the way of the wicked who will perish. As then, we have a choice, which way of life are we/ am I choosing?
Forgiveness - Psalm 51 - David Knowles (Video)
Evening Service, Sunday, March 12, 2023
David poured out his heart to the Lord after his sin with Bathsheba. He turns to God seeking forgiveness, mercy and a restored relationship with Him, speaking of God’s unfailing love and great compassion. We are all sinners in need of God’s grace and forgiveness.
Praise for God our Creator - Psalm 104 - Kenny Douglas (Video)
Evening Service, Sunday, March 19, 2023
Psalm 104 opens and closes with ‘Praise the Lord, O my soul’. The verses in between express the wonder of God’s creation and His love and care for all He has created. Like the Psalmist we should praise God for all that He has done. Verse 33 ‘I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live’.
Thanksgiving... God is always with us - Psalm 138 - Alex Warren (Video)
Evening Service, Sunday, March 26, 2023
The Psalmist speaks of walking in the midst of trouble. But also recognises God’s love and faithfulness and indeed the Psalm opens with mention of praising the Lord with ‘all my heart’. A challenge for us and reassurance too that God is always with us whatever the circumstances – ‘with your right hand you save me’ (v7).
