"Let them make me a sanctuary that I may dwell in their midst."

As the story of Scripture is told at its heart is the desire of God to be with the people he has made in his image.  Eden was the perfect picture of fellowship between man and God; one day God’s new Kingdom will again bring man into true and eternal fellowship.

After the fall, perfect fellowship was damaged, yet God still desired to be with His people.  As the people of God made their way out of a pagan Egypt and through the desert to the land God had promised them, God set out plans for how the people could maintain a relationship with God.  Exodus details for us God’s design for what we know as The Tabernacle, God’s dwelling place.

The wonderful and elaborate designs of the Tabernacle are however not just of historic interest they are pointers to spiritual realities of great importance to our relationship with God as Christians as we make our journey through the world with its many difficulties towards God’s promise of a new Kingdom.

Consecration to Service - Tim Haddow (Video)
Evening Service, Monday, March 7, 2022
Passages to readHebrews 9:1-10; Exodus 28: 1-5; Exodus 29:1-9 The serious business of worship and the need for extreme care is sown as Aaron and his sons are consecrated for service as Priests. This is no trivial task and to approach the Holy God will require the utmost attention to the detailed provisions given. These verses bring two great lessons to us, the tremendous joy of knowing that Jesus is our once for all High Priest and access is now through his once for all sacrifice. Perhaps however there is another lesson we may need to consider is our approach too easy have we lost a sense of reverence and awe?

Between the altar of burnt offering and the opening to the tabernacle was a basin called the Bronze Laver. The priests were required to wash their hands and feet before making sacrifices and before they entered the Holy Place. It was a continuous cleansing each time they went before their Holy God. Jesus cleansed us once and for all with his death on the cross. Jesus “provided purification for sins” Hebrews 1:3.
Exodus 27:1-8; Hebrews 9:11-14 - A cure for sin - Michael (Audio Only)
Evening Service, Sunday, March 27, 2022
On entering the courtyard, there was the large Altar of Burnt Offering. It was here that the people brought their perfect animal sacrifices as sin offerings. They would place their hands on the animal, symbolically transferring their sin to the animal. Its death atoning for their sin. This they had to do repeatedly. These Old Testament sacrifices pointed forward to Jesus and the sacrifice of his life to atone for our sin. Jesus was our perfect lamb. “Behold, the lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29
