Luke was a Doctor and a gentile, the Apostle Paul described him as “the beloved physician”. Travelling with Paul and the other Apostles Luke gathers the stories of Jesus from them and from other eye witnesses and compiles the third gospel to help people like Theophilus understand who Jesus was and why it matters.

Luke focuses much of his record on how Jesus lifted people from their sins and gave them life and hope. Luke wants all readers of his gospel record to know that Jesus is the answer to whatever situation, characteristic or feature of their life, and that ultimately only Jesus can save the lost.
